The lakes of Essonne - Viry Châtillon
The Hotel Orly Draveil enjoys a quiet environment in the south of Paris and invites you to have a breath around the lake of Viry Chatillon and Grigny (91). That will be the opportunity for families, couple or solo to walk in one of the largest natural site of the department of Essonne.
Spread over nearly 100 hectares, the lakes of Essonne extend on the communes of Viry-Châtillon and Grigny. Here are our suggestions of activities available only 4km from the hotel.
You want to have a run?
This 7.7 km of trails will be perfect for running, without risk of losing you.
Want to just stroll and observe nature?
The entire tour will take an hour walk. Panels inform you all along the walk about the species present in this natural space. We recommand you to stop in the rue du Port, on the Grigny side, to enjoy a beautiful panorama of all the lakes.
With 60 species of birds established on the banks of the lakes of the Essonne, you can observe in the quiet central islands not accessible to the public, the very rare black swan, Rousserolle, Pierregarin Sterne, Kingfisher, Grand Cormoran Or the Gray Heron and the Macroule Coot.
Fishing
Sport fishing for carp and catfish is also practiced.
Sport activities
The Viry-Chatillon lakes have hosted the French wakeboard and wakeskate championships in 2015. You can practice sailing, windsurfing, water skiing, wakeboarding, rowing and diving in the suburbs of Paris, Marine. An electric boat allows you to walk on the lake from May to September.
Cycling
You may rent bicycles with V'Lacs to fully enjoy your relaxing day. The 2 hire stations are located at 15 rue Octave Longuet in Viry Chatillon and at the House of children and nature, chemin du Clotay in Grigny.
Access to Lake Viry Chatillon is free.
